RANGOON, BURMA - April 2010

Rangoon waits in the shadow of darkness of the general elections that are looming on the horizon. The ruling military regime (State Peace and Development Council) steps towards a disciplined democracy will bring little hope to a nation already ravaged with poverty that is worsening by the day. The first elections for more than 20 years will be held in Burma towards the end of 2010. Burma's democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi and her party the National League for Democracy have refused to take part, International Governments worldwide have widely condemned the process refusing to acknowledge the election credibility but all that the residents of Rangoon can do is wait and hope.
